The Crispness of the Air
I want you to blow through me
to match the coldness I hold
inside of this aging, weary body
held together by years of love
Slow Mornings
Weekends are time to
peddle softly into a
wide open field of grass
Unmade beds mirror
mussed morning hair
and rumpled sheets
Watching a Lion Do Cartwheels
I don’t know where I fall
as I watch myself idle
through life with that
weighted vest you saw
on Amazon on my back
Subtle Drops of Sunshine
A slow breeze glances
your hand dipping into
the blades beside you
and time opens up
Inclination
So, I lay down on a chaise
with a book of fiction
to imbibe someone else’s
life of bold grandeur
inside my inactivity
Pounding Salt
It knows more than us,
but is still artificial
and anonymous
If we allow it to
be autonomous
we will be left
pounding salt
Basking in the Glow of a Shallow Pool
It’s strange to look for
some kind of solace
in a puddle outside of
a nondescript building
on any road in this
city of wayward fog
and capsized humans
The Errant Winds of Change
Brushes of pollen
and dusty branches
echo in the distance
as the wind pushes
the clouds aside
to drop its breath
atop the slow haze
of errant wanderers
The Other Side of the Pillow
Slept upon, the weight
of our misplaced dreams
lying heavy on its back
The pillow slowly dies
Unfettered Malaise
Walking through life in a slight haze
waiting for the rusted anvil to drop
and expecting that stop sign to bend
is a feeling of unfettered malaise
Time Fluffs the Butterfly
A rhythmic display of time and space
intertwined with butterfly wings
looking like a parachuter's eyes
through the fear in their goggles
