Let Them Fly
We bring them into this world
and then spend a fair amount
of time trimming at their wings
as a sign of good parenting
But as they grow, we realize
that we should have been
helping them lift weights
to strengthen their wings
Just because they can fly
doesn’t mean they will fly
away into the clouds above
leaving us holding their perch
