Every Little Thing

People say it’s the small things
that matter the most, but I think
they may have that one wrong
because when you look back
on why things went the way
they did in a certain instance,
it’s about every little thing

Like my action figure that I
still have from childhood

Like the way you slid down
in your seat when you saw
a friend as we were driving

Like the way you tip a bottle
of cologne onto your hand
to gently rub it on your neck

Like the snowflake that landed
on your nose and covered
your three perfect freckles

Like the last Fruity Pebble
floating in your childhood
light green bowl of milk

Like the sun and the rain
and the morning and
the depths of night and
the dew drops on the
grass and the bead of
sweat on your eyebrow
