Unhandy

I can’t put together anything from IKEA
because I don’t have the time to read
pantomiming in print with arrows showing
me how to make me go completely insane

I can hang art because I was a curator,
but I can not hang blinds, curtains, or
anything else that is intended to block
the sun from coming in and blessing me

I can’t paint straight lines, but it’s not
because my hands are shaky at all;
it’s because I don’t have the patience
to do that thing with the brush that works

And maybe that sums up the breadth
of my unhandiness. It’s not that I can’t
do any of these mundane things; it’s that
I don’t want to and never will want to
