Confetti

Shredded newspapers litter
a downtrodden hamster’s
cardboard undercarriage
while water drips slowly

Skies dim about street lamps
as families sit around the
dinner table idling away
on their tiny computers

A bottle pops open
and nothing spills out
because this whole time,
I’ve been the confetti
