Guests

Bodies wandering past
Minds so far away
Windswept and oblivious

Doors open, anvils fall
Puddles spread, clouds up
Footsteps and shadows

A hole opens in a street
A fire rages through us
A flash flood swells

And then it’s all gone
and we realize that
we are only guests
